TEAGAN & JOSH | ARIA
Set on a family farm - this beautiful, rustic wedding, where you could literally kick your shoes off, perfectly showcased everything that is important to this bride and groom. This wedding epitomized laid back and chill, and any wedding that incorporates the full family with the pooches in attendance is a winner in our books!
Tell us about your venue and why did you choose it:
We chose to have our wedding at my Nana & Popa’s farm, because its a really special place for us. I’ve had a very close bond with my grandparents my whole life and together Josh and I have a very special relationship with them. We spend every free weekend we can there, its like our little escape from reality!
Where did you purchase your dress and accessories from:
Grace Loves Lace - who were amazing by the way! I accidentally ordered the wrong fabric, and when it arrived 6 months later and I realised, they took it straight back and fixed it within a week for me! PHEW! My crystal headpiece, which was my favourite accessory, was from Australia, a lovely lady who runs Crystal Eclipse Crowns. My mum also gave me my Great Nana’s Rings to wear on the day. We were very close so it was very special for me to get to wear her rings.
Where did you find your inspiration for your wedding day:
We really wanted our day to represent us, the things we care about and the styles we’re into. Rustic, laid back vibes with a really comfortable setting. Cruisey back yard, kick your shoes off & dance kinda vibe! I spent days scrolling Pinterest for ideas, but in the end I just looked for vendors that suited the style we wanted and went with what we could work with! Which worked out better than I imagened!
What were the highlights on the day:
Biggest highlight for me was at the very end of the night, when most had snuck off to their tents for bed, and the DJ was packing up, Josh and I sat down on one of the mats and the last of the party joined us in a circle, we all said what we were grateful for & our first memories of each other, then to top it off, Josh sang me a song! It was so romantic I forgot anyone else was even there. And lucky for me, one of my girlfriends filmed it, so I have that memory forever! Also Popa walking me down the isle! I am very lucky to have an amazing man like him in my life!
Our love story began…
Our mothers have been best friends since we were toddlers, we used to get babysat together when our mums were on the wines haha! But we didn’t reconnect until my 21st, Josh showed up with some more wine for his mum. One look at grown up Josh and I was swooning. We’ve been in love ever since!
Our wedding style was…
Very relaxed, boho, rustic, no shoes type of style. We wanted to get the formalities over and done with so we could mingle, dance and enjoy being in love!
Tell us about the proposal…
We we’re in Thailand on our favourite Island - Koh Chang. We had booked a Private room on the beach front, I was trying to entice him into the water with my new blow up unicorn floaty LOL! He actually grabbed it and told me off, kissed me lots and wouldn’t let me go (I was annoyed as he got sand all over my new Unicorn!). Then I noticed something was going on when he dropped to his knee and started scrambling words together with the shakiest voice I’ve ever heard! He pulled out the ring and I said “are you lying” about 5 times before realising the ring was real! (I had no idea he was going to propose). I cried, he cried, then I said yes! It was very surreal and amazing! Now whenever he tries to get my attention I listen straight away, instead of getting mardy about the unicorn in the sand.
We saved on….
The location! Having it at Nana & Popa’s farm saved us a lot! We also loved that our pups could be involved! This couldn’t happen at a paid for venue! We also did BYO alcohol which was great! Our guests didn’t mind at all & they could drink their preferred liquor.
We splurged on….
Our amazing photographer Emma! My dress! And the food - which was amazing and actually very reasonably priced for what we got!
Do you have any tips for other brides & grooms?
Don’t sweat the small (or big) stuff. You know whats Important to you, stick to your guns, don’t let anyone tell you what to do. If things don’t go to plan, go with the flow… nothing can ruin the fact you get to marry the one you love! Embrace the good and the bad! Smile no matter what! It will be the best day of your life!
